Barb Dallinger received both her Bachelor’s in Music education and Master of Science in Education in College Student Personnel Administration from Illinois State University. Recently retired from Illinois State and the Division of Student Affairs, her work as the manager of student programming and Braden Auditorium for the major concerts and events offers a fresh eye to Prairie Fire Theatre logistics. While most of her experience is on the music side of things, she’s very excited about this opportunity to branch out into live theatre.
Identifying as queer since the late 1970’s, this Central Illinois native is a former kindergarten teacher turned human rights activist committed to ensuring the quality of life for LGBTQ youth and young adults. Her focus has always been to provide safety, comfort, and stability while teaching them to value their history. She’s a familiar face in the LGBTQ community often found with current and former PRIDE students.
Her past board work has included the Illinois State University’s Friends of the Arts, the Illinois Soldiers & Sailors Children’s School Historical Preservation Society, the annual Doctors in Concert event with the Children’s Discovery Museum, the LGBT Queer Studies Institute, and the Illinois State Alumni Network for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Time spent relaxing includes playing the piano and flute, cooking and figuring out where this next adventure in life will lead.
