Our Purpose
Drawing from an exceptional pool of local talent, Prairie Fire Theatre makes high quality, professional music theatre and light opera accessible to children, adults and seniors in our community, thus enhancing the quality of life of the residents of Bloomington-Normal and the surrounding area.
Read MoreOur History
Prairie Fire Theatre was founded in 1998 by local artist Robert Mangialardi. Our initial focus was solely on bringing high quality, professional music theater and light opera to adult audiences. In 2003, we expanded our mission to include elementary school aged children by producing and taking our children’s opera to local elementary schools.
2021 CHILDREN’S OPERA

YOUTH PROGRAMMING
Each year, Prairie Fire provides children with an opportunity to experience classical music through our annual children’s opera tour. This production tours over 40 schools, libraries, and community centers each May. Thanks to grants, performances are free for most schools. Additionally, Prairie Fire offers a summer music camp for middle/high school students and sponsors a talent award for a local high school student who plans to study music in college.
About Us
We exist because the arts and music, in particular, enhance our community and the residents who live here. Our organization fills a niche in that, without Prairie Fire Theatre, there would be no professional music theater and light opera companies in our community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bring professional, first-rate music theatre and light opera to people of diverse ages and backgrounds in Bloomington-Normal and the surrounding community.
